Zlatibor
The Zlatibor Mt. is an exceptional wide natural morphological unit, positioned at the far southwestern part of Serbia, between the mountains Tara and Zlatar, in the zone of Stari Vlah.

It is a gently undulated mountain plateau with vast complexes of colourful mountain pastures and meadows, decorated with individual or smaller groups of often very old trees of the Scots pine (Pinus silvestris) and characteristic shallow cut winding riverbeds of brooks and rivulets. Impassable gorges, caves, pits, and mixed forests of Scots pine (Pinus silvestris), black pine (Pinus nigra), Norway spruce (Picea abies), silver fir (Abies alba), Balkan beech (Fagus moesiaca), sessile oak (Quercus petraea), and other species of trees are situated along the rim of the plateau.
The area of the Zlatibor Mt. is inhabited by 144 species of freshwater algae, 960 species of plants, 256 species of insects, 14 species of amphibians and reptiles, 150 species of birds, and 54 species of mammals. Among them there are some very rare endemic serpentinophytes (Halacsya sendtneri, Potentila visiani, Potentilla mollis, Allysum markgrafii, Fumana bonapartei, Genista frivaldsyky, Silene paradoxa…), and animals such as the dice snake (Natrix tessellata), stream frog (Rana graeca), crested tit (Parus cristatus), woodlark (Lullula arborea), honey buzzard (Pernis apivorus), dipper (Cinclus cinclus), otter (Lutra lutra), grey wolf (Canis lupus), red fox (Vulpes vulpes), and many other species.

This area is known for its folk architecture, specific culture and customs of the local inhabitants, very rich ethnic heritage, famous delicacies and healthy food, and very beneficial climate, thus representing one of the favourite tourist destinations in Serbia.
